About Turiya Nada- “Cave of the Siddhars”
Near the peak of the sacred mountain, Thiruvannamalai (South India), at around 3 AM, Nandhi was sitting outside the cave listening to Ayya sing in his Divine voice. The Sage, Ayya had been meditating in his cave without moving for over 18 years drinking just a cup of milk a day. He lives in a realm of existence called “Turiya”, a higher consciousness that transcends the need to sleep or eat and is unbound by the laws of the physical world. Ayya was in ecstasy as he sang throughout the night. The resonance within his voice was pure energy merged in Divinity. It vibrated with the bliss of a human in passionate Union with God. The Union of Human and God, sound within silence, breath within void, all transformed into One- One Overflowing as an effulgence of Divinity, perfect in peace, harmony and love. The breath, merged in mantras that reverberate with ancient energy and the pure ecstasy of Oneness, is the first passageway leading to the state of Turiya. To the Siddhar Sages of South India, this passageway is known as “Turiya Nada”. Nandhi quietly wished deep in his heart for this ancient resonance of the heart’s song to be brought out to the world. What a beautiful sense of perfection everyone could attain in tune with total harmony, inspiration and fulfillment!
How “Cave of the Siddhars” and Turiya Nada Became a Reality- After coming to America, whenever Nandhi would meditate, Ayya would constantly direct Nandhi to record the chants. Through the loud silence of meditation, Ayya would tell Nandhi, “Sing for the world as you sing for Us and within your song, know that We will be present as Spirit to reach and uplift all who seek the Empowered Grace”. Through this constant prodding Ayya reminded Nandhi of the need to bring to the world the Siddhar energies that would enable the vision that is now Ariven Community IHC. Ayya would tell Nandhi that He would bring together all the other awake beings to enable the grand dream with the first step being- recording of the sacred mystical Siddhar chants and creation of the music around it.
Nandhi knew the only instrument that could fully compliment the deep breath of the mantras was the didgeridoo. The didgeridoo, known by the Aboriginals as the yidaki, is the world’s most ancient instrument containing the mystical component of the divine breath that the Aboriginals have invoked for thousands of years. Nandhi was wondering how to go about bringing out the Siddhar chant music together with a didgeridoo, but deep within he knew that Divine guidance would lead him to right person
It was in one of his yoga workshops that Nandhi met Cofe Fiakpui, a With enormous talents of the following musicians, Cave of the Siddhars came to life. Ed Wing Sankey- composer and harp player Christo Pellani- drums/percussion Ming Freeman- keyboard player
It was another divine synchronicity when one of the recordings took place at the most auspicious full moon night, the Guru Purnima. This is a sacred night in the Siddhar tradition when ancient masters make themselves present through the mantras invoked. Essence of Cave of the Siddhars At the heart of“Cave of the Siddhars” are the Siddhar chants that invoke the ancient guiding energy of the Absolute. The Siddhar mantras are extremely potent since they bring together the collective energy of all the Siddhar gurus of many thousands of years tradition. These mantras manifest, heal, create abundance, burn karma, inspire, guide and protect. Since the Siddha tradition is connected to higher wisdom, the mantras focus on conserving and generating energy through breath and the inner resonance. For the mind to attain the strength of single-pointedness, the entire intellect is utilized for going into the “Nada”, the source of bliss and joy. The mantras based on sound resonance, enable the inward journey. They act much like a magnifying glass converging the sun rays to make it intense enough to burn. The essence of the Siddhar path is to be able to invoke the Absolute and through divine grace of the Absolute, to be lifted to higher realms that transform us into perfect beings. This allows a person to enter the state of Turiya in meditation while at the same time functioning at an even higher level in everyday life. “Turiya Nada” is the name chosen for our group as it this Divine causal sound of breath within mantra that invokes the presence of the Siddhars and allows them to convey their blessings.
Nada is the primal causal vibration that resonates within the mantra as the perpetual OM. Nada creates, sustains and destroys and yet it is eternal. Nada is the sacred sound vibration Turiya Nada is a powerful yoga/meditation/tantric music compilation of sacred chants of the Siddhars accompanied by the didgeridoo, the harp, singing bowls, djembe, udu, gongs and other instruments.
